Jude Johnstone

Born in Bar Harbor, Maine, Jude Johnstone began writing songs at about age 8.  At 18, she was "discovered" by Bruce Springsteen's saxophonist, Clarence Clemons.  After spending some time in New York and New Jersey under his wing, in 1979, she moved to Los Angeles, where her songs quickly became sought after by other artists. She has been covered by Bonnie Raitt, Emmylou Harris, Bette Midler, Johnny Cash, Stevie Nicks, Mary Black, Jennifer Warnes, Stephen Bishop, Trisha Yearwood and more,  including a #1 song for Yearwood's debut album called "The Woman Before Me" which earned her a BMI award. Her songs then appeared on 8 other Yearwood cds. She also penned the title track to Johnny Cash's 1997 Grammy winning album "Unchained." 

Jude has released 8 cds of her own. She has been featured on the CBS Early Show, and NPR Radio's "Morning Edition" with Renee Montagne.

She often tours with Bonnie Raitt.

Ray Duncan

Ray Duncan is a musician, composer, and independent artist based in Nashville, TN. In addition to composing music for several Shakespeare theatre productions in NYC, CT and Maine, she is a studio backing vocalist for other artists and has released 2 EPs of her own,  a live album and several singles with the band Ranchers For Peace. Ray moved from the central coast of California to Nashville in 2019 and in 2020 started a swamp rock duo called New Daddy  who plays frequently in these parts. She recently recorded and released her sophomore solo EP, "Break My Heart" which is now out everywhere. She also hosts a songwriter showcase called Voices From The Vault on Monday nights at The Bowery Vault in East Nashville, where you can hear the cream of the crop of up and coming songwriters in the area. She is the daughter of Book of Jude co-host,  Jude Johnstone.
